Saadani National Park is located directly west of the Zanzibar Islands and is the only coastal wildlife sanctuary in all of East Africa. This allows for the opportunity to observe Africa’s big game and birdlife interacting with the sea. One gets to relish the palm trees as they sway in the cooling oceanic breeze. White sand and the blue waters sparkle beneath the tropical sun as you relax by the beach each day after your safari.
In 2002, Saadani went from a game reserve to a national park and the wildlife population has been increasing. It has a diverse population of mammals and birds. Buffalo, colobus monkeys, crocodiles, elephant, giraffe, hippo, leopard, lion, wildebeest, zebra, and the rare Roosevelt sable can be seen here. Saadani offers you the option of doing a driving safari, walking safari, and a boat safari on the Wami River.
