SAFARI EXTENSION OPTIONS

SERENGETI BALLOON SAFARI – A Panoramic view of the plains
Many people consider a dawn flight over the Serengeti plains as one of the “must do” safari experiences. And, truth be told, the romance of this adventure is unparalleled. You rise up over the African plains just as the dawn breaks, amidst skies awash with pink and gold. An hour later, your balloon sets down on the savanna, where you are served champagne and a full English breakfast. Around mid-morning, you return by road, game-viewing all the way, to join your group and continue the day’s exploration of the Serengeti.  Because of limited space, advance reservations are highly recommended.
Location:  Central Serengeti / Seronera area and Northern Serengeti
Logistics:  Easily incorporated into any itinerary which includes at least one night in the Central Serengeti.
Itinerary:  You will be picked up at 5am from your chosen lodge in the Central Serengeti and will be driven to your awaiting balloon near the Moru Kopjes.  Keep eyes out for nocturnal predators as you may encounter them returning from their nightly hunting forays on your game drive to the launching site. Arrive at the balloon-launching site for a quick briefing from your pilot. At dawn you will take off and float above the vast Serengeti while the sun rises over the savannah below. With a little luck you will have good game viewing opportunities while you drift above the Seronera River Valley.  Please keep in mind that every flight is different and wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.  However, you will undoubtedly enjoy the spectacular views and the serene quiet as you aimlessly drift along with the prevailing winds. Your pilot can precisely control the altitude of your balloon while sometimes flying at treetop height and at other times ascending to 1000 feet.  Flight time is about one hour depending upon conditions. Scout vehicles will track your location from the ground and will be waiting for you wherever the winds have carried the balloon.  Your balloon safari ends with a champagne toast and an elegant breakfast at the landing site. Breakfast is served in the bush with silver, china and linen tablecloths. Breakfast consists of tropical fruits, warm freshly baked bread, eggs, sausage, bacon, mushroom and tomato. After breakfast you will be transferred to the Central Serengeti visitors center arriving at about 9.30a.m. We will be waiting for you to continue the day’s scheduled activities as indicated on your customized safari itinerary.
Note: If you are interested, the cost is US $600 per person per trip. You can purchase your balloon safari directly from the balloon safari representative upon your arrival in the Serengeti, but we cannot guarantee you the availability. The only way we can guarantee you availability is to reserve with us in advance.

Climb Mount Kilimanjaro– Climb to the “Roof of Africa” at 19,341 feet
Tanzania is home to one of the continent’s most magnificent sights – Mount Kilimanjaro, which is the highest mountain in Africa at 19,341 feet (5,895m), and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro is a highlight for many visitors in Tanzania. Few mountains can claim the grandeur, the breathtaking views of Amboseli National Park in Kenya, the Rift Valley, and the Maasai Steppe, that belongs to Kilimanjaro. Hiking on the ‘rooftop of Africa’ — is the adventure of a lifetime, especially because, if paced well, everyone from seasoned trekkers to first-time enthusiasts can scale the snowy peak. Kilimanjaro is one of the world’s most accessible high summits, a highlight for visitors from around the world. Most climbers reach the crater rim with little more than a walking stick, proper clothing and determination. And those who reach Uhuru Peak, the actual summit, or Gillman’s Point on the lip of the crater, will have earned their climbing certificates, and their memories.
Logistics: Mount Kilimanjaro climbs can be incorporated into any itinerary. Depending on the route you choose you will have to plan for an additional 7 to 10 days in Tanzania.
Note: If a Kilimanjaro climb is in your plans, please contact us and we can discuss with you the best route to use based on your experience and we will also be able to give you a price as each route has different variable and prices.
